ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Community Action Partnership of Greater St. Joseph is building a new apartment complex geared toward housing seniors in North Village.

The complex, North Village Estate, which will be located at the intersection of North Village Drive and 169 highway, will offer mixed-income apartments for senior living.

The project is being funded through the MHDC Low-Income Housing Tax Credit. The goal is to help seniors find affordable living.

Kayla Marmaud, CAP St. Joe's community relations director, said there will be community support worker will be living at the apartments to assist seniors.

"We'll have one of our community support workers who are there," she said. "Not only to provide them with resources and connections to the community but also we'll do some on-site classes geared towards low income seniors."

There will also be apartments available for seniors with disabilities. Marmaud said the new apartments will create new housing opportunities for seniors in the community.

"Seniors are able to not have to worry so much about their income when its affordable. They are still able to spend money but it's also gonna create some housing opportunities as seniors downsized and moved into these senior apartments," she said.

The complex is expected to be completed in Fall 2027.
