ST. JOSEPH, Mo (KQTV) -- City of St. Joseph officials said the former Reed Chevrolet building at the corner of Frederick Avenue and Woodbine Road is set to be demolished, citing no finalized plans for redevelopment.

City Planner Kim Schutte confirmed with KQ2 that the city has secured a permit with E.L. Crawford Construction, Inc. to demolish the building.

Schutte also said there are no plans in store for what's next for the lot.

The act comes almost two years after Reed Chevrolet moved to its new location in Southeast St. Joseph, along Commonwealth Drive and near Menards.

In a previous interview with our sister news outlet, News-Press NOW, co-owner Trevin Reed said the dealership had gotten a few bids on the property in its early stages of being vacant.

The building was built in the late 70s and has also had a history of refurbishment.
