ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Mosaic Life Care officials hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of Plaza 4 on Monday morning.

Plaza 4 aims to improve access to health care for patients and families by introducing a new approach to delivering care. The new plaza will include primary care, pediatrics, specialty care, laboratory and a pharmacy.

Mike Poore, CEO of Mosaic Life Care, said Plaza 4 represents a reinvestment in the local community.

"Working with our physicians to provide world class health care right here at home. It's a new model," he said. "A one stop shopping for our patients so they can get their care conveniently and locally here in a beautiful new setting."

Poore said Plaza 4 will give the clinicians and physicians more space to take care of patients.

"It's actually helping accommodate other providers that we've recruited. We've recruited more than 20 primary care providers that will be here in the next year and that is important way to take care of our community again everything locally," he said.

Poore said Plaza 4 is unique among health care facilities because it was designed by caregivers.

"It allows the patient to flow through without having all the different waiting areas. We're incorporating technology in this, so there'll be geofencing," he said. "If a patient comes for their appointment, we'll be able to tell when they walk in the front door. Just by their cell phone and their care plan. That helps to not have to do a long registration process, that makes the care focus more on the patient."

Poore said this is an environment care givers want to be in.

"They are the ones that touch our patients on a daily basis and that's important. To have a happy and healthy caregivers, an amazing building that are able to give world class health care," he said.

Plaza 4 is currently in Phase 1B of a four-phase opening. For more information about Plaza 4 and its opening phases, visit Mosaic Life Care’s website.
