UPDATE 4/27 5:18 P.M. -- The St. Joseph Police Department reports that two people were injured in the accident, the driver and a juvenile occupant.

Both were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- The St. Joseph Police Department is asking drivers to avoid parts of Interstate 229 due to a traffic accident.

Just before 3:30 pm on Monday, April 27, SJPD sent out an alert for drivers to avoid the area of northbound I-229 where it meets the Eastlake Boulevard exit due to an accident that is blocking traffic.
