Non-Profit organization hosts Denim Day at MoWest

ST. JOSEPH, Mo (KQTV) -- The St. Joseph YWCA brought a table to the Blum Hall at Missouri Western State Unversity.

Denim Day is a nationally celebrated holiday that brings awareness to survivors of sexual assault.

The YWCA invited students in the hall to write personal messages on cut out slabs of denim jeans in support of individuals affected by sexual assault.

"We understand a lot of our sexual assaults come from college aged students," St. Joseph YWCA Community Support Manager Jade Lashley said. "We want to get our name out there and let them know that if anything comes up, we are here."

The YWCA in St. Joseph supports any and all demographics at MoWest, and anyone who comes looking for help.
