Benton Cardinals senior wins Class 1 state tennis championship

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KQTV) -- A Benton Cardinal senior will finish his high school tennis career with a state championship.

Ridge Stagner won the Class 1 state tennis championship Friday morning — 6-3, 6-1.

Stagner defeated Greenwood's Han Seo to win the state title.

The Benton won his semifinal bout against Springfield Catholic's William Hein — 6-2, 6-2 —earlier in the day.

Stagner did not lose a single set in the state tournament.

The Benton senior is the first tennis player in school history to reach the state semifinals in three-straight seasons.
