Bell rings one last time for St. Joseph High School

ST. JOSEPH, Mo (KQTV) -- St. Joseph Northsiders gathered on the front lawn of one St. Joseph High School to listen to the chiming of the bell for a final time.

Several alumni from over the years, as well as parents and family members of current students, met at the school shortly before the final bell of the day sounded.

Lafayette High School has been home to Fighting Irish alumni ever since 1917.

"I loved every moment. All the memories I've made," Outgoing Junior Tye Hammond said. "I wish everyone that's been here the best."

Under the St. Joseph School District's reorganization plan, Lafayette will convert into a middle school.

Current Lafayette High School attendees will be moved to either Central or Benton based on school boundary lines.
