Central, Benton, Savannah send qualifiers to state track and field championships

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV)-- There will be track and field athletes from Benton High School, Central High School, and Savannah heading to the Class 4 & Class 5 state championships next weekend.

For the Central track and field team, senior Dedosha Jackson made it to the state championships with a third-place finish in the Class 5 Sectional 4 triple jump. Jackson jumped a mark of 10.85 meters.

As for the Benton Cardinals in Class 4 Sectional 4, Austin Grayson qualified in the Boys 300-Meter hurdles with a time of 41.21.

Cardinals senior Deontre Howard will head to state with a fourth place finish in Class 4 Sectional 4 triple jump. He jumped 13.09 meters.

Benton sophomore Mikayla Grayson advanced in the 400-Meter dash with a time of 1:00.09.

The Benton girls qualified in the 4X200 Meter Relay with a time of 1:44.74. The 4x400 team qualified with a third-place finish and a time of 4:07.23.

Cardinals freshman Kiya Cook leaped 1.52 meters to take second at sectionals and advance to state.

Benton sophomore Jenna Cox won the Sectional 4 triple jump with a jump of 11.33 meters.

The Savannah Savages are sending state qualifiers to Jefferson City next weekend.

In the boys' 100-meter dash, Rylanton Cook qualified with a second-place finish with a time of 10.64. Cook finished third in the 200-meter with a time of 21.86.

Savannah's boys 4X100-meter relay team finished third with a time of 42.80. The 4X200 team qualified with a time of 1:29.78.

In the boys pole vault, Caylor Schrick qualified for state with a vault of 4.05 meters.

As for the Savannah girls, sophomore Raedyn Phillips qualified in the 1600-meter run with a second finish and a time of 5:26.67.

In the 3200-meter run, Tinley Byergo finished fourth with a time of 12:15.79.

Sophomore Lynli Eagleburger finished third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.75. She also qualified in the long jump with a fourth place finish of 4.78 meters

Savannah junior Aubrey Snapp won the Class 4 Sectional 4 high jump with a leap of 1.62 meters.
