Tracking a warm Wednesday

Good morning and happy Wednesday.

Out the door this morning it’s a mild start across northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas. Temperatures are near 62 degrees with light south and southeast winds, making for a comfortable start to the day.

Skies are mostly clear this morning, and we’ll keep plenty of sunshine through much of the day before cloud cover gradually increases later this afternoon and evening.

By lunchtime, temperatures will already be climbing back into the low 80s, with highs this afternoon reaching near 86 degrees. It’ll be another warm day, so be sure to stay hydrated if you’re spending time outdoors.

It’s also shaping up to be a warm evening for the St. Joseph Mustangs game at Phil Welch Stadium tonight. Gates open around 5 p.m., with temperatures near 86 degrees early in the evening before falling back into the upper 70s by the end of the game.

A few isolated showers are possible later tonight, but most of the rain activity is expected to stay south of Highway 36, so the game should remain mainly dry.

Better chances for scattered rain arrive Thursday through Saturday, although recent forecast trends continue to lower rain coverage across our area.

Highs stay warm with temperatures near 85 Thursday and low 80s by Friday.
