Bartlett Center accepting donations

Jake Walker | KQ2

ST. JOSEPH, Mo (KQTV) -- A local children's care center is struggling with finances while waiting for federal grants.

The Bartlett Center said it has faced fiscal trouble for "quite some time now". Administrative staff is struggling to meet payroll and has opened up ways to donate to the center.

"If you look at the children and you look at the staff, and you're able to look at things or organization is able to do, it is obvious that we are extremely needed," Executive Director LaTonya Williams said.

Donations can be dropped off at the Bartlett Center or Venmoed to @BartlettCenter.

"We do a lot for the children of the community and their families," Williams said. "I would hate for anything to happen to the center."

Williams said the Center is on a waitlist for federal grants.
