JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KQTV) -- Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe has announced two gubernatorial appointments to the State Board of Education.

The announcement was made on July 30, with one appointment being Vincent Schoemehl Jr. of St. Louis City, a former St. Louis mayor and current charter school board member.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Missouri.

The other appointment is Michael McDonald, a Kansas City math teacher with more than two decades in the classroom.

He is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and holds multiple education degrees.

Kehoe says the appointments are part of his administration's push to modernize Missouri's public schools.
