St. Joseph native, actress makes appearance on ‘Ted Lasso’

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Holland Smith is a local actress in St. Joseph and recently made an appearance on the show 'Ted Lasso.'

Smith plays the character 'Vanessa,' who she describes as fun and doesn't care about anything. Smith said she was thrilled when she got the part, and it served as a moment she would never forget.

"It was probably one of the coolest experiences that I've ever had to this date," said Smith. "Working with people like Jason Sudeikis was an incredible experience. Everybody was really cool and it's something I'll never forget."

While she enjoyed her time on set, she also had the chance to take in this moment with her family, while also getting a laugh out of her role.

"We just all laughed," Smith said. "It was such a silly, goofy role, but it was really cool."

Smith has been acting for nearly 10 years, with eight of those in New York City. Now she is back in St. Joseph, where she has filmed other projects.

She sees St. Joseph playing a major role in the film industry in the near future.

"St. Joe over time is going to be a hub for filming because of the history here and all of the historic locations," said Smith. "I think that it could really turn into something over the next five to 10 years, so that's really exciting."
