Northwest Missouri State trains RA’s in preparation for upcoming school year

MARYVILLE, Mo. (KQTV) -- While students prepare to head back to campus next week, another group of Northwest students has been preparing residence halls for over a week.

Resident Assistant Training is a two-week-long course preparing Northwest students to build community among new students. Resident Assistants participated in group activities, including presentations on writing professional emails, fire safety drills, and simulations of resident issues. 

Training RA Chantal Roux says many people at Northwest find the dorms a home away from home. 

"The saying that they're saying of ‘this is home’ is not a joke. Like, people really do feel like this is their home, me included in that. I'm an international student from South Africa. So it was, you know, a lot of travel and a lot of stuff to come here. But I really do love this place a lot.”

RA Training will continue next week and conclude when students move into the dorms on Thursday, January 20th.
