Reid: “Pretty good chance” Mahomes will start Week 1 against Broncos

Brett Kennedy

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KQTV) -- Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid announced on Tuesday that former Super Bowl MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes is scheduled to start Week 1.

During his weekly media interview, Reid said that Mahomes will get the start unless something comes up in the next few days.

"Pretty good chance Patrick will go ahead and start unless something were to come up here in the next couple of days," Reid said. "Most likely, he (Mahomes) will be the guy that is out there."

Mahomes tore his ACL in a game last December and was taking part in training camp practices in St. Joseph, but did not play in any of the three preseason games.

The Chiefs will host the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football next Monday, Sept. 14.
