West Platte School District cancels school Tuesday due to Weston law enforcement situation

WESTON, Mo. (KQTV) -- The West Platte School District has cancelled school on Tuesday due to an active law enforcement situation in Weston.

On Tuesday morning, the district announced on its Facebook page that school has been cancelled for Tuesday because of the ongoing law enforcement situation in Weston.

KQ2 has reached out to the Platte County Sheriff's Office and are waiting for a call back.

The West Platte School District is operating on a two-hour delayed start Tuesday due to an active law enforcement situation in Weston.

The district implemented the delay Tuesday morning out of an abundance of caution and in coordination with local law enforcement, according to a post on the district's Facebook page.

District officials said there is no known threat to schools, but the delayed start gives law enforcement time to address the situation and helps ensure students and staff can safely get to school.

Buses will run approximately two hours later than their normal scheduled times. Vocational-technical classes have been canceled for Tuesday.
