Politicians, political groups react to use of 2022 Congressional map for November midterms

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- The United States Supreme Court ruled Missouri must use its 2022 Congressional map last Friday for the November midterms.

The discussion of whether or not to use the 2022 map or the 2025 map has been a hot-button issue since House Bill 1 was signed by Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe back in Sept. 2025.

After the Supreme Court ruling, there were mixed reactions to the decision.

In a post on Truth Social, President Trump said, "The Supreme Court of the United States will just not let Missouri have an Election Victory." He also went on, saying he is proud of the work Gov. Kehoe is doing.

Gov. Kehoe also shared his disappointment on social media: "Voters deserved consistency and certainty, and not for the rules to be changed between elections," said Kehoe. "Nevertheless, Missouri will follow the Court’s order."

Richard von Glahn is the executive director of People Not Politicians and has been fighting for the 2022 map. He shared his reasoning for why he thinks it is too late to switch maps.

"People are voting," said von Glahn. "Thousands of ballots have been sent to our brave servicemen and women that are serving overseas, with some of those ballots being returned. I myself have voted as well. If the map was to change at this point, I wouldn't get a chance to vote again."

Missouri Senator Josh Hawley spoke to the media last week before this decision was made. He gave his thoughts on the situation.

"At the end of the day, Missouri voters under our laws are going to get to vote on this, this November, and so we'll have a definitive resolution," said Hawley.
