Voices of the Past raises over $14,000 for St. Joseph Museums and Mt. Mora Society

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Voices of the Past continued this week, with participants traveling to Mount Mora Cemetery to hear some voices from beyond the grave.

Voices of the Past is an annual collaboration between the St. Joseph Museums and the Mount Mora Preservation and Restoration Society.

Despite the rain during tours, tickets sold out on all days, raising over $7,000 each for the St. Joseph Museums and the Mount Mora Society.

Attendees took buses to Mount Mora and listened to reenactors tell stories at their respective tombs, giving a deep dive into St. Joseph history, a topic organizers say should be preserved.

"Saint Joe has such a rich history, and I think a lot of our citizens do realize that," said Sara Elizabeth Wilson, executive director for St. Joseph Museums. "They value the work that we do. They value the work of the cemetery. So they're coming out to have a great experience, to learn about our history, but also to support our organizations. I'm so grateful for them."

If you missed this year's tours, keep a lookout for next year's "Voices of the Past," with tickets going on sale in July 2027.
