ST. JOSEPH, Mo (KQTV) -- The Astras FC women's soccer team joined a local sports bar for a night of community outreach.

The Astras FC is a new up-and-coming women's professional soccer team in St. Joseph.

Because of their age, they have been participating in local sports outreach to get their name out there and make some connections before they officially start their season.

The team says St. Joseph's sports scene has been incredibly welcoming, and they're excited to start playing in the city.

"Just looking to get to know people," said Liz Serago, president of the team. "We talk about how massive the Saint Joe community is and how important it is to connect with people. And really, that's what I'm here to do is get our name out there and get to know the people who, hopefully, are supporting us on game day."

The Astras' season schedule is to be released sometime next week, getting ready to hit the big stage. Keep up to date with KQ2 for more on this team.
