Buchanan County inmate transported to Mosaic after suicide attempt

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- A Buchanan County Jail inmate was caught in a self-harm attempt Sunday night.

Staff at the Buchanan County Jail witnessed a 33-year-old female attempting to commit a self-harm suicide around 6:45 p.m.

The inmate, charged with Drug Trafficking, was in a cell by herself at the time of the attempt.

On-site nursing staff responded immediately until Buchanan County EMS arrived and took over.

The inmate is currently at Mosaic Life Care, where she is being held in critical condition.

The Buchanan County Sheriff's Office said it will not be releasing the inmate's name at this time.
