Get to Know: Adam Booth, Democratic Candidate for U.S. Representative, District 63

Adam Booth

Wathena, Kan. (KQTV) -- Adam Booth, a member of the Wathena, Kansas, City Council, is running to become the next U.S. Representative for Kansas' 63rd District.

Booth decided this election cycle is the proper time to take the next step in his political career.

A non-career politician, he believes, if he is elected to the position, he can bring a relatable presence to this level of politics.

"I've been a blue-collar worker all my life. I've been a union worker for thirty years now," Booth said. "I know what it's like to have to worry about what gets paid this week, what gets paid next week, overtime, what the kids need, stuff like that."

The closing of rural hospitals is an issue Kansas has seen in recent years, and it is an issue Booth hopes to change if he is elected.

"We're seeing rural hospitals closing; it's making it harder for people to get the health care they need," Booth said. "Not everybody has Mosaic to come to, so that is a top priority."

Booth has taken notice of many factors in his area which have made everyday life more difficult for the people in his district.

"We need to listen to the farmers and not tell them 'Hey, this is what you need'. And the same goes for the rest of the constituents," Booth said. "The price of housing is very high right now; the cost of everyday living his high. The goal is to listen to the people and not tell them what they want."

Booth is running against incumbent Representative Allen Reavis for Kansas' 63rd Congressional District, and he will be featured on Nov. 3 ballots.
