Teresa McDonald wins Missouri Public Health Association award

STANBERRY, Mo. (KQTV) -- Teresa McDonald is a BSN RN Administrator at the Tri-County Health Department and was presented with Missouri Public Health Association's W. Scott Johnson Award.

According to to MPHA's website, the W. Scott Johnson Award is its most prestigious award, which honors the life of W. Scott Johnson. The award goes to an individual for their service in the field of public health in Missouri.

McDonald, who serves in the department's Stanberry, Missouri, location, was thrilled to receive the award. She views it more as a group award and gave credit to her colleagues.

"The award was actually to me, but I'm just saying that everything I had done wasn't just me," said McDonald. "It was my employees and other agencies we were working with on things with. I think if I didn't have that, I probably would not have been nominated for the award."

While McDonald gave credit for to the people around her, she is also proud of the work they have been doing at the Tri-County Health Department and said she looks forward to the work they will continue to do.

The W. Scott Johnson award has been presented to individuals dating back to 1951 and McDonald is the 73rd recipient.
