Memorial service to honor fallen Northwest Missouri officers during National Police Week

St. Joseph, Mo (KQTV) -- A memorial service honoring Northwest Missouri law enforcement personnel killed in the line of duty will be held during National Police Week.

National Police Week will be celebrated May 11 through 17. 

The National Police Week Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, at the Northwest Missouri Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Civic Center Park, located on the south side of City Hall, 1100 Frederick Ave.

Brendan McGinnis, a detective with the St. Joseph Police Department and president of Northwest Missouri FOP Lodge #3, will speak at the event.

The event is sponsored by Northwest Missouri FOP Lodge #3.

SJPD, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop H and other Northwest Missouri agencies will participate in the ceremony.

The public and families of fallen officers are invited to attend the service to honor those who gave their lives in service to the community.

In the event of inclement weather, the service will be moved inside City Hall.
