ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- Low-voltage battery company Clarios announced it will donate batteries for local first responder vehicles.

In support of the local police, fire and emergency vehicles in the St. Joseph area, Clarios is replacing nearly 300 batteries.

The donation is the kick-off of Clarios' "Behind the Brave" initiative, supporting local departments with emergency preparedness via ongoing battery maintenance.

Clarios said it aims to strengthen emergency readiness by providing 12-volt batteries to power every vehicle type.

Police, fire and EMS vehicles rely on batteries to support lights, radios, mobile computers, cameras, sirens and other critical equipment.

An event with local officials and Clarios leaders will be held at Clarios' facility at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 9 at 4722 Pear St.
