Authorities investigating fatal aircraft crash in Harrison County

HARRISON COUNTY, Mo. (KQTV) -- An aircraft pilot was declared dead at the scene of a plane crash in Harrison County Tuesday night.

The Harrison County Sheriff's Office was alerted by the Federal Aviation Administration just before 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug.4, of an aircraft crash.

Deputies located the smoke near US Route 69 and 245 Street in a field. The single-engine aircraft crashed into a grove of trees.

The pilot was presumed to be the sole occupant of the aircraft.

The incident is still under investigation by the Harrison County Sheriff's Office, the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
