DeLong runs unopposed for Andrew County prosecutor

ANDREW COUNTY, Mo. (KQTV) -- Reilly DeLong looks to bring her skills to serve as Andrew County Prosecutor during this November’s election, as she currently runs unopposed.

DeLong began her legal career with the Missouri Attorney General’s Office in Jefferson City after graduating from the University of Missouri and passing the bar exam. There, she worked in the labor division, then transitioned to criminal law by working for a Missouri State Public Defender's office in Macon County.

While also attending Mizzou, she served in the National Guard as a medic in the 139th Airlift Wing in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Later, DeLong moved back to Northwest Missouri, first working with the public defender’s office in Buchanan County before transitioning to a position at the prosecutor’s office.

DeLong spent much time in Andrew County growing up before moving away as a child. Now, being back, she hopes to bring her expertise to the place she loves so much.

"Andrew County citizens are pretty proud of the reputation that they have as far as, you don't come to Andrew County to commit crimes. And so I think keeping that, you know, legacy is very important,” Delong said.

She hopes to tackle other important issues, such as illegal dumping alongside county roads.

DeLong has also had the chance to begin the transition with current County Prosecutor Monica Morrey after she decided to run again for the position.

"Those are some big shoes to fill. Monica has done a great job. She's created a great office,” Delong said. “I'm excited that Buchanan and Andrew County are in the same circuit. And so Monica will be coming back to Buchanan County. Michelle (Davidson, Buchanan County Prosecutor) will still be here, and it's nice that they'll just be pretty much a phone call away if I need any help.”

The last day for candidate filing was March 31. DeLong is the only Republican option on the ballot so far, with no opponent.

With at least one ballot cast in her favor in November, she’s expected to begin her four-year term in January of 2027.
