Griffons thump back at Mustangs Saturday evening

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- While keeping the rain away, the St. Joseph Mustangs fell to the Nevada Griffons at Phil Welch Stadium on Saturday night.

The runs began in the bottom of the first when Griffon Caden Kumpp hit a two-run home run. Mustangs struck back in the bottom of the second as multiple walks brought in the home team's only run of the night.

Nevada powered forward and won the game 6-1, bouncing back after falling to the Mustangs on Friday night. This brings St. Joseph to a 9-6 record on the season.

St. Joseph will travel to Chillicothe on Sunday to take on the Mudcats. Mustangs will be back home at Phil Welch on Friday, June 26, when the Clarinda A's come to town.
