St. Joseph Goats Head Coach Golston III wins Arena League Coach of the Year

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- In his third season as the Head Coach of the St. Joseph Goats, Dorsey Golston III has been named Arena League Coach of the Year.

In Golston III's first year with the team in their inaugural season, the then Kansas City Goats made it to the Arena League semi-final game. After the Goats did not make the playoffs during their first season in St. Joseph, he helped coach the Goats back to the Arena League Championship in 2026.

For Golston III, this honor is more of a team award than an award for himself.

"I don't like to put myself out in front of the team, because without them, there wouldn't be any me. I need the guys to execute on defense, and the offensive coordinator to do what he does. To me, that's more of a team award than it is for me, so I'm grateful for that."

During the 2026 season, Golston III has led his team to a 7-2 record so far. Players attribute their performance this season to his ability to connect with those he leads from the sidelines.

"I've been knowing (coach) since last August. I have been in touch with him, and I speak with him as a person. His character, he really has a connection with me," said Goats rookie receiver, Aderias Ealy.

The Arena League's Coach of the Year and his team will be going after their first title against the Arkansas Diamonds on Saturday, August 8. The game is expected to start at 7:00 pm, with tickets available via stjgoatsfootball.com.
