Chiefs Punter Araiza talks about Special Teams outing at St. Joseph staple

Cool Crest Garden Golf

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- During Wednesday's media availability, Kansas City Chiefs Punter Matt Araiza spoke about the special teams outing to Cool Crest Garden Golf in town.

On the evening of July 30, Cool Crest posted two photos that caught sports fans' attention.

The longtime St. Joseph favorite was visited by three Chiefs players in town for camp: Punter Matt Araiza, Long Snapper James Winchester, and Kicker Harrison Butker. The three took in a nice evening, even posing for a photo with Cool Crest's Katie Lane for the business's social media account.

Araiza gave some insight into the special teams' visit on Wednesday, explaining it's all part of team building.

"As weird as it may sound, I'm a big believer that that stuff helps us. Like, we're all going out there to compete. We're keeping track of who's winning comes down to the final hole," Araiza said. "Like two dudes are in contention. Who's going to win the day? Like, that's kind of similar to what we do out here."

He mentioned he's tied with Butker for wins on the mini-golf course over their longsnapper, Winchester. However, Winchester recently sent a photo to his special team buddies that he was getting fitted for a new putter.
