Maysville woman loses home & belongings in fire

MAYSVILLE, Mo. (KQTV) -- Central DeKalb Fire Protection District stated on social media that a Maysville woman lost her home and belongings after her home caught fire Friday evening.

First responders arrived at a residential structure fire in rural eastern DeKalb County around 7:16 p.m. Friday, according to a social media post by the department.

When they arrived, they found the downstairs garage fully engulfed in fire and spreading into the house. An attack was made in the garage and also in the house, but the floor had already partially collapsed, and an interior attack was not possible, according to the post.

The woman who was staying at the home told first responders she heard a noise that sounded like an explosion coming from the garage area and ran outside to find the basement garage on fire.

The incident was under control at 11:00 p.m.; however, the structure and contents were a total loss.

Central DeKalb Fire Protection District was assisted by Osborn Fire District, KAW Fire District, DeKalb-Clinton Ambulance, and the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office.
