Kidder man, woman dead, 1 person injured after Caldwell County crash

UPDATE 8/10/26 -- A Kidder, Missouri, man and woman are dead following a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning.

An 87-year-old Kidder man driving a pickup truck north on Highway J crossed 36 to continue in that direction, entering the path of a tractor-trailer driven by a 27-year-old Coffey man.

The 87-year-old man was pronounced dead at 10:04 a.m. at the Cameron Regional Medical Center

The 82-year-old Kidder woman was pronounced dead later Thursday at 6:18 p.m. at Liberty Hospital.

CALDWELL COUNTY, Mo. (KQTV) -- A Kidder, Missouri man is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Caldwell County Thursday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred around 9:05 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 36 and Highway J, just south of Kidder.

An 87-year-old Kidder man driving a pickup truck north on Highway J crossed 36 to continue in that direction, entering the path of a tractor-trailer driven by a 27-year-old Coffey man.

Troopers report the tractor-trailer skidded and slowed down, but the vehicles collided. The Kidder man was pronounced dead about an hour later. A passenger riding with him, an 82-year-old Kidder woman, was taken to Liberty Hospital for serious injuries.

The tractor-trailer driver went to Cameron Regional Medical Center for minor injuries.
