Courage2Report app deactivated, anonymous Reporting Moves Online

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Missouri State Highway Patrol has deactivated its Courage2Report app and moved the anonymous reporting system to a website.

Parents and students can submit anonymous reports about school safety concerns, including bullying, planned school attacks, school shooting threats and other potential threats.

The goal of Courage2Report is to help keep schools safe by quickly getting information to law enforcement and school officials.

"You don't even need to have evidence that it's going to happen. If you hear something or see something on social media that's something is going to happen. Your student comes home and say I'm being bullied at school or harassed. You always have that tool for you to push that information out there."

Sgt. Shane Hux said the reporting is anonymous so people won't be afraid to come forward.

"That's why it's very important for people to know that you don't even have to put your name on the report to submit it," he said.

Once the tip is submitted it's reviewed, then sent out to the school district and the law enforcement agency within jurisdiction. When law enforcement and the school district received the tip the start an investigation.

MSHP said the Courage2Report app is no longer active and will not be monitored.
