Griffon Athletic’s Andy Carter added to St. Joseph Sports Commission

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) — The St. Joseph Sports Commission’s Board of Directors added a familiar name from Missouri Western State University.

Many St. Joseph Sports Commission events have included the Griffons in some capacity, such as the MIAA Volleyball Tournament, the D2CCA Tip-off Classic, the DII Women's Basketball Central Region Showcase, the DII Men's Golf Regional Championship, and the MSHSAA State Football Championships played at MoWest's Spratt Stadium.

Athletic Director Andy Carter, who has served as the Griffon Athletics leader since May of 2022, is excited to help strengthen the sports landscape in the St. Joseph area.

"I am honored to serve our community and the advancement of the Commission with this talented and engaged board," Carter said. "In my professional role at MoWest, we have partnered with the Commission on many successful hosting opportunities and I am excited about future opportunities."

St. Joseph’s Sports Commission has also inducted many individuals from Griffon Athletics, such as Cheri Kempf, Tom Smith, Charlie Burri, Gary Filbert, Michael Hill, Brad Nurski, Brice Garnett, Doug Minnis, Mike Habermehl and Bob Orf since the hall's foundation in 2021.
