(ST. JOSEPH, MO) – Thursday night a few high school wrestling milestones were reached as Benton senior Gage Snodgrass and Savannah junior Kaiden Phillips both picked up their 100th career victories.

Snodgrass picked up his 100th in the Tri-City Tournament at Central High School in a forfeit against Lafayette, he then picked up his 101st career victory a little later in the night in the 157 pound match against Central’s Vashawn Ewing in a 17-2 victory.

“I did get my one hundredth on that forfeit against Lafayette, but I wanted to earn it so I don’t count that,” said Snodgrass. I really got 101 but it’s alright. I’m counting them. The actual earned win is a win. So I got my one hundredth.”

“He’s had some setbacks and some injuries over the years, I’ve coached him since he was a little bitty guy,” said Benton head wrestling coach Brad Hubbard. I’m happy for (Gage), it hasn’t been easy. We battled, like last year he had a season ending injury and he bounced back. He’s been great in practice, great to these underclassmen. So it’s well deserved.”

Savannah’s Kaiden Phillips picked up his 100th victory in the 175 pound weight class in the Savages home meet against East Buchanan.

Benton and Savannah will next wrestle in the “Throw Down in Joe Town” meet at the Civic Arena on Saturday, January 31st.
