St. Joseph Sports Commission has Area Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony for 2026 class

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) - The St. Joseph Sports Commission held its St. Joseph Area Sports Hall of Fame Induction ceremony for the class of 2026 Sunday night at the Stoney Creek Hotel.

The 2026 Hall of Fame Class included:

Jesse Barbosa – Christian Brothers Boys Basketball Legend

Jeff Brown – Central High School/Missouri Western Basketball Great

Tony Dudik – Central & Bishop LeBlond High School Coaching Mentor

Gary Hazelrigg – Athletic Training/Sports Medicine Pioneer

Lisa Hughes – Central High School and MWSU Women’s Basketball Record Holder

Jim Perry – Golf and Basketball Coaching Icon/Three Time State Championship Coach

Bob Roth – Hillyard Companies President & Chairman/Basketball History Development

Paul Schoenlaub – Running & Endurance Record Holder

Ron Selkirk – Legendary Tennis Player, Coach and Mentor

Jennifer Trotter – Missouri Western & MIAA Elite Softball Coach

1992, 1993, 1994 – Central High School Boys State Golf Champions (Three-Peat)

Patty Sutton – Special Olympics Area Athlete of the Year presented by the Hook Family

Runner Terra James was also honored for being named the 5th recipient of Bill Snyder Woman of Impact Award.

All the recipients were honored and grateful for their awards.

"(MoWest softball) was my first head coaching job and so both professionally and personally this community has meant everything to me as an adult," said Trotter. "From getting my first job and then getting all the experience that comes with that, all the players I coached, and then meeting my husband and and getting my family."

"The biggest thing for me is I loved every one of my guys and what that meant is I will the best for them," said Dudik. "I want the best for you. I'm gonna help you get where you want to go, and I hope every young man that I was privileged, honored and blessed to coach understands that."

"I've always been about teamwork. So that's really been my mindset is you know what, I may not be the best athlete, but I'm gonna be the strongest athlete that I can be by being a community member and a team member," said James. "Finding things like Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, and doing my best to support a cause that's extremely important and bringing other people around."
