KQ2 High School Football Team of the Week: Maryville Spoofhounds

MARYVILLE, Mo. (KQTV) - The KQ2 High School Football Team of the Week for week 1, sponsored by Altec, is the Maryville Spoofhounds.

Maryville marched into Jefferson City last Friday and defeated the back-to-back defending state champion Blair Oaks Falcons, 21-7.

It haulted a 26 game win streak Blair Oaks was on, it also was the first victory the Spoofhounds had over the Falcons since 2017. Blair Oaks had 10 straight victories over Maryville in that span.

"We were extremely confident going into that game, not arrogant and not boastful. There's a difference between being confident and arrogant," said Maryville head coach Matt Webb. "You're confident when you put in the work and you're confident when you have a great offseason. You're confident when you have a great week of practice. You should be confident when you've got the culture piece of being a great teammate and loving one another. Those things are confidence. So, yeah, we were confident going into Blair Oaks and we're certainly confident coming out."

Maryville will now have its season opener for week 2 hosting Pleasant Hill at the Hound Pound on Friday, September 4th at 7 pm.
