McMenamin having fun in year two with Northwest football

MARYVILLE, Mo. (KQTV) -- The Northwest Missouri State University Bearcat football team is now 4-0 on the season and are ranked #7 in all of NCAA Division II Football.

One reason for this success has been because of Head Coach John McMenamin, who is now in his second year. The reigning MIAA Coach of the Year is currently 13-3 in his first two years with the program.

McMenamin reflected on what the difference has been between year one and year two.

"I'm having a lot more fun to be honest" said McMenamin. "I think it's because we have such a tremendous football team. These kids are so good. They want to practice hard, so it's really easy for me."

While, McMenamin gave credit to the players, he's thrilled to have some familiarity in the coaching staff.

"The second part is the whole staff is back," said McMenamin. "Those guys do a tremendous job echoing what are mission is, what are voice is, what we want and that's been a lot of fun."

The Bearcats will now travel to Edmond, Oklahoma, to take on the Central Oklahoma Bronchos. The game will take place at Chad Richison Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 26 with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
