(ATCHISON, KS) - The Benedictine College football team held its annual Spring Game on Saturday, Team White defeated Team Black, 24-13.

Team White struck first on the first drive of the game, when junior left handed quarterback Kaden Austin rocketed a 48 yard touchdown pass to sophomore wide receiver Titan Osburn for a 7-0 lead. Team White would later add a field goal to make it 10-0.

After a Team Black fumble in the second quarter and a recovery from sophomore edge rusher Kasen Paredes, Team White later scored another touchdown on a 20 yard scramble up the middle from junior quarterback Patrick Heitert. That made the score 17-0.

Team Black then answered with a 9 yard touchdown pass from a pair of redshirt freshman, Kenny Saucedo to JJ Ayala. After a missed extra point, the score was 17-6. Then on Team Black's next drive, Saucedo then uncorked a long bomb to redshirt freshman Xavier Luea who fought off two defenders for a 54 yard touchdown catch to pull within 17-13 of Team White. That was the halftime score.

No one scored again until the fourth quarter, when Saucedo was intercepted by redshirt freshman safety Luis Vasquez and he weaved his way back for a 49 yard interception return for a touchdown to conclude the scoring in a 24-13 win.

For the Ravens, a strong Spring Game capped on a productive spring camp.

"I was just out there having fun, trying to just make the right decisions. We had a few good drives, a few that stalled out, but I'd say spring ball was good," said junior quarterback Kaden Austin. "We made a lot of good progress as a team, and we're looking forward to seeing what this group can do."

"I think it went well, there were a few injuries here and there, but we had a lot of guys who wanted to show up every day for early lifts, have late practices," said junior safety and wide receiver Isaiah Hasten. "It didn't really matter. We all know why we're here."

"It was a great day overall, just coming out right away, making some plays offensively, then the defense settled in, forced some turnovers. We had some mistakes, but it's going to happen. A lot of good things overall though, and it was a great day," said head coach Joel Osborn. "Weather turned out really well and we had a good crowd and a lot of people, a lot of activity on campus. It was just good to get a lot of new guys going. We have a lot of new faces out there. We're playing with a chip on the shoulder, there's a lot to accomplish and we know that as of right now in 2026 there's been nothing accomplished. So a lot to work towards."

Benedictine College opens the fall season at #8 Morningside in Sioux City, Iowa on August 29th at 6 pm. The home opener for the Ravens will be against William Penn on September 12th at 1 pm.
