ST. JOSEPH, Mo (KQTV) - Former Savannah High School standout Blake McFadden has been named the head baseball coach for the Ivy League school Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.

McFadden joined the Dartmouth staff in the fall of 2018 and was elevated from pitching coach to interim head coach in July 2025. In his first season as the head of the baseball program, McFadden delivered a series of program milestones. Dartmouth opened the year with the program's first Opening Day victory since 2019, snapped a nine-game losing skid against Columbia. Dartmouth also recorded its first win over Princeton since 2022. McFadden's expertise on the mound was on full display throughout his first season, as the staff posted a league-low 4.32 ERA.

During his playing days, McFadden was a dominant pitcher at Kansas State. He was named to the Big 12 All-Rookie Team as a freshman after going 6-3 with 58.0 innings pitched over 13 starts as the Sunday starter. That season, the Wildcats won the Big 12 conference title and advanced to the NCAA Super Regional.

In the summer of 2015, he served as pitching coach for the St. Joseph Mustangs. The Mustangs won a MINK League Championship that year.

With Savannah, McFadden was one of the most decorated athletes in MSHSAA history. McFadden was named the 2012 MSHSAA Player of the Year, Gatorade Player of the Year, and Louisville Slugger All-American, and was selected in the 32nd round of the MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers.
