Adam Dorrel resigns as head football coach at Central Oklahoma after sideline behavior in loss to Central Missouri

MIAA Network

EDMOND, Ok. (KQTV) - Central Oklahoma head football coach Adam Dorrel has resigned effective immediately following his conduct after Saturday’s loss to Central Missouri. The announcement from UCO included a reference to Dorrel's "behavior," and the school said it was "inconsistent with the expectations we have of our leaders."

After the Broncho's loss to Central Missouri, Dorrel had a dispute with the officials.

In April 2025, Dorrel was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Dorrel, who once led Northwest Missouri state to 3 national championship wins in 2013, 2015 and 2016 and then also defeated his old Bearcats team 2 weeks ago, had a record of 30-21 during his time at UCO. Cody Swanson will serve as interim head coach for the Bronchos.

The university said it will begin a search for a new head coach in the coming months.
