Lafayette baseball gets complete game shutout from Elijah Castle in road win at Maryville

(MARYVILLE, MO) - The Lafayette High School baseball team defeated Maryville 3-0 on the road on Thursday afternoon.

The Fighting Irish started junior Elijah Castle on the mound and he delivered a complete game shutout. Castle pitched all 7 innings and had 9 strikeouts while only giving up 4 hits and no runs.

"Feels great. I had my defense behind me. The bats were hot, we were piecing balls up. I felt good on the mound, let the arm loose," said Castle. "My fastball felt really good today, and also I can control the curveball whenever, so it's not really a big deal for me, so I just like to mix up the arsenal."

Senior Logan Beedle finished 1-for-3 with 2 RBI for Lafayette, Wyatt Proffit finished 1-for-2 with 1 RBI.

Lafayette improves to 3-5 on the season and Maryville drops to 4-5.

Maryville next hosts Cameron on Monday, April 6th at 4:30 pm. Maryville plays at East Buchanan on the 6th at 4:30 pm.
