(PLATTSBURG, MO) - The Plattsburg Varsity Baseball Tournament was held on Saturday, April 4th as Maysville, Polo, Lone Jack and Plattsburg all participated.

In the first contest of the day, Plattsburg defeated Polo 13-3 in 6 innings and the Tigers advanced to their tournament championship game..

Polo jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st but then Plattsburg answered with 3 runs in the bottom of the first and didn't trail again after that point.

The win broke a 3 game losing streak for Plattsburg.

"We started off a little slow. It was 3-2 at the end of the second, so we were hoping to jump out a little further, but we have the guys to rally around. We got their ace out, and we battled from there," said Gudde.

"Being as young as we are, with only three seniors and zero juniors on the whole team. It's nice to see how they've fought really throughout this time period," said head coach Beau Brown. "There's not been a game where we just kind of rolled over and died in, but just to be able to bounce back and fight in every single game and not roll over and die was great."

In the second game of the day, Lone Jack defeated Maysville 10-7 as the Mules advanced to face Plattsburg in the championship game.

The Wolverines held a 5-3 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, but in that frame Lone Jack scored 7 runs and took control of the game. The Mules hit 3 home runs, including 2 from Luke Throgmorton, the other came from Conner Curtis.
