Riverside High School softball sweeps Troy in road double-header

(TROY, KS) - The Riverside High School softball team defeated rival Troy, 17-5 in 5 innings and 19-2 in 4 innings in a road double-header on Monday.

The Lady Cyclones were led by sophomore Kennedy Griffin, who finished the day a combined 5-for-5 with 12 RBI and 3 home runs including a grand slam in the first game.

"They're our rivals, so it's kind of nice to go out and beat them," said Griffin. "It gives us a lot of energy for the next upcoming games."

"Right now we're, we're trying to lock in and say we can make sure we have good at bats. Sometimes you get lucky, things roll your way. We've had a little help here and there against some teams that probably are building a little bit trying to get there," said Reynolds. "You're not always going to have that, so we want to kind of stay focused and try to stay within ourselves and don't get too bigheaded about things."

Riverside improves to a perfect 8-0 on the season and Troy drops to 3-5.

The Lady Cyclones next host Jefferson County North for 2 games on Thursday, April 9th at 4:30 ands 6:30 pm. The Lady Trojans next host Oskaloosa on the 9th at 4:30 and 6 pm.
