Central High School has three student athletes sign to play college sports

(ST. JOSEPH, MO) - Central High School had 3 seniors sign to play college sports at the next level on Friday.

Abbi Huff and Halee Moran will stay close to home, representing MoWest on the Griffon dance team.

While softball player Akayla Tittsworth is headed to Iowa City, Iowa to play for the Hawkeye Community College Redtails.

"I chose MoWest because it's close to home. I'm big on staying close to my family, and I've always been around MoWest as my mom graduated there," said Huff. "I'm going there for nursing, and they have one of the best nursing programs in Missouri. The way that the dance team is developing, it really inspired me to go here even more."

Moran seemed to agree with Huff on their decision.

"I chose Mo West because it's really close at home and I'm really close with my family, so I didn't want to like go away from them yet. I'm in the nursing program and Missouri Western has the number one nursing program," said Moran. "Their dance team is growing tremendously each year and I just want to be a part of that and the coach and the teammates on there just seem like a bunch of fun people to be around."

Tittsworth talks about what sold her on Hawkeye Community College.

"The coach there (Courtney Calkins) is very sweet. We kind of just bonded when I first arrived. It's a pretty far drive, so we went down there and I just visited for a little bit," said Tittsworth. "Coach was just very sweet. She's young. I am also excited for the teammates and getting to live by myself and experience the college experience."
