Eliana Arambula scores 4 goals as Benton girls soccer shuts out rival Lafayette

(ST. JOSEPH, MO) - The Benton High School girls soccer team faced rival Lafayette for the first time this season on Wednesday and the Lady Cardinals came away with an 8-0 shutout victory.

Senior Eliana Arambula led the way with 4 goals. Senior Cammie Peters, senior Slaydr Duncan, sophomore Kyndall Hubbard and freshman Josephina Nold all had one goal each.

The win breaks a 4 game losing skid for Benton as the team improves to 5-8 on the season.

"They played hard. They were excited to play. We've had a lot of 3-game weeks, had big tournament in Excelsior Springs. We've played some really tough games along the way," said Benton head coach Joey Hendrix. "So with this week only having one game, it was kind of nice that they could leave it on the field and knew that's all that was left for the week. It was really nice to get back and see some success on the win side."

Benton next plays at St. Joseph Christian on Tuesday, May 5th at 5 pm. Lafayette drops to 0-9 on the season and next plays at Mid-Buchanan on Thursday, April 30th.
