Four Savannah High School student athletes sign to compete in college

(SAVANNAH, MO) - Savannah High School had four student athletes sign their college letters of intent on Wednesday.

Erin Larson, the top goal scorer for the Savages each year she was on the varsity team, signed with Kansas City Kansas Community College to play soccer.

"Honestly, the community, the coaches, sold me on KCKCC," said Larson. Coach Jefferson (Roblee) is a really great guy, and it gives me good opportunities to further my growth as a player. So it's a good choice for me, and it's close to home."

Tyler Foster, who's headed to the Class 1 State Tournament in doubles tennis for the Savages, signed to play with Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri.

"My brother went there and then I wanted to go to a private Christian college to be with fellow Christ believers as I go through my education," said Foster. As all the ones I looked through, this was one of the ones that were interested in letting me sign for tennis. I'm like, oh, I'm going there. I wanna play."

Hadley Blake signed with the Missouri Western State dance team, keeping the Griffons spirit in her family.

"Both of my parents are alumni there and it's a really great school," said Blake. "They have great opportunities for me, a great business program, and I'm just super excited to dance for them."

Finally, Mackenzie Schmutzler picked a unique route in college and signed with the Eastern Oklahoma Meat Judging team. Schmutzler explains what that entails.

"We judge beef, pork, and lamb. We grade quality carcasses, so we look at like prime choice, and that we look at the rib eyes to grade and yield grade those," said Schmutzler. "We also have retail identification, so just ID it, that's most of it."
