"I liked just how it felt like family there. The coach Kenny Monday, he's a legend in the wrestling community. He's an Olympic champ, so I wanted him as my coach," said Beane. "They made me feel like home. I learned (here at Lathrop) that I can be a leader, to show I want to have the younger community follow my path. It was just a platform for everyone to build up on."

"Nobody has any idea how much time this kid has spent on the mat, our other kids see it," said Lathrop wrestling coach Rick Mudd. "I preach success builds success and we had a lot of success this past year during the regular season. A lot of that is in a tribute to Garrett."
