Riverside High School football drops first game of season in road defeat to #1 Sabetha

SABETHA, Kan. (KQTV) - The Riverside High School football team played the #1 ranked 2A team Sabetha right down to the wire on Friday night but the Cyclones would end up falling 28-21.

Riverside had the ball down a touchdown with a little over 2 minutes left to play but a late interception ended the comeback attempt.

Junior quarterback Kobe Koehler had 2 touchdown passes, one on a long pass to to freshman Brooks Griffin on 4th and 11 in the second quarter. The other Koehler touchdown pass went to senior Keagan Hughes in the second quarter as well. Freshman running back Charles Hewins added a touchdown on the ground in the second half.

Riverside drops to 4-1 on the season and will next host Centralia on Friday, October 9th at 7 pm.
