COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) -- After a recent six-week checkup, Mizzou running back Ahmad Hardy is 'ahead of schedule' in his rehab, according to head coach Eli Drinkwitz.

On Wednesday, the leader of Tiger football sat down with ABC 17 Sports Director Nathalie Jones to record the latest edition of Sunday Sit-down. During their chat, Coach Drinkwitz mentioned just how proud he's been of Hardy throughout his entire recovery process, after he sustained a gunshot wound to the leg on May 10.

"I've been really proud of Ahmad, just focusing on what he needs to do in order to recover. He's in a really good place, he had a six-week checkup and we're ahead of schedule, so that was positive news," Drinkwitz said. "We got to take it day-by-day, but I've been impressed with him being at every team event, being at every walkthrough, being at summer OTA's and showing the guys that he's still invested. Then, conversely, I've been impressed with the number of guys that have taken Ahmad and showed up to the hospital and checked in on him. It's been great to watch the brotherhood continue to thrive."

Hardy had surgery at a hospital in Mississippi, following that shooting in May, and has been in recovery mode ever since. There is no official timeline on when he may return to the field for MU.
