Tracking colder temperatures on the way

 Good morning and happy Thursday.

As we head into the latter half of the week, colder air is gradually settling into northwest Missouri. Temperatures this morning are noticeably cooler than yesterday, with most locations waking up in the upper 30s to mid-40s. That’s compared to the 50s we saw at this time Wednesday.

It’s breezy again this morning, with winds out of the northeast as a low-pressure system pulls cooler air into the region. Skies will remain partly cloudy through the day. There is a slight chance for a few flurries late this afternoon and into the evening, but accumulation is not expected. Dry air currently in place should limit any measurable precipitation.

By Friday morning, we’ll really begin to feel the effects of the cold front. Temperatures will start the day in the 20s, and afternoon highs will only reach the 40s.

Another round of light rain and flurries moves in late Friday night and continues into early Saturday morning. This looks to be a quick-moving system, with sunshine returning by the latter half of the day Saturday.

Temperatures from Saturday through Monday will remain in the upper 30s to low 40s. A warming trend begins early next week, with highs rebounding into the mid- to upper 50s by Tuesday and Wednesday.
