Tracking mid-week heat and humidity, returning t-storm chances

Intense heat and humidity has settled into the Mid-Missouri River Valley Tuesday, prompting a Heat Advisory across the area through 10 p.m. tonight. Heat index values as high as 105 degrees will be possible through the evening, with mostly sunny skies and light winds. Wednesday will bring another hot afternoon with highs in the low 90s and feels like temperatures topping out near 100 degrees. Scattered rain and thunderstorm chances will also return Wednesday, starting off with slim chances around 20% for the late morning and early afternoon, increasing to 40% for the evening and overnight hours. A few may be severe with damaging winds and hail the primary hazards, along with an isolated tornado threat. Spotty rain and t-storm chances continue through the end of the week, before cooler and drier air arrive in the extended forecast.
